Regina Musical Club

The Regina Musical Club fosters a love for classical music through education and community engagement, supporting local artists and providing intimate experiences that connect audiences with the orchestra and its instruments.

Get an up-close introduction to the string family of the orchestra featuring the Horizon String Quartet: Amy Hills (violin), Jeremy Buzash (violin), Erin Hillis (viola), and Karla Hillis (cello). Hear each instrument on its own, ask questions, and learn about their roles in both a string quartet and the orchestra. &nbsp;Experience the virtuosity of the violin with &quot;The Bumblebee&quot;, the beauty of the cello with Borodin&#39;s Nocturne, and the cheerfulness of the viola with Dvorak&#39;s American Quartet. &nbsp;Plus music by Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven, Bartok, Taylor Swift and a special version of Star Wars! 🎻 This event supports our mission to share classical music through performance and education. Whether you are new to concerts or already a regular listener, you are welcome to explore, listen, and discover your favourite string sound. 🎶

Up Close and Personal: Instruments of the Orchestra

Meet the Horns! In partnership with New Dance Horizons featuring the Regina Horn Quartet: Richard Burdick, Wendy Tsymbal, Alison Cushy, and Sharla Benoit. &nbsp;This program titled &quot;The French Horn from Bach to the Future&quot; will showcase authentic horns from the Baroque, Classical, and Romantic eras, offering a fascinating demonstration of their historical evolution and unique sounds. They will also play some jazz compositions and familiar tunes including from popular soundtracks like Frozen, Kpop Demon Hunters, and How to Train your Dragon! New Dance Horizons&#39; Robin Poitras will also give a special performance with RSO Principal Horn, Richard Burdick, to his own arrangement of Bob Dylan&#39;s &quot;Blowing in the Wind&quot;, merging graceful movement with evocative horn music for a truly memorable experience.

Meet the Woodwinds! featuring the principal woodwind players of the Regina Symphony Orchestra, Marie-Noelle Berthelet (flute), Tamsin Lorraine Johnston (oboe), Hyonsuk Kim (clarinet), and Kristy Tucker (bassoon). &nbsp;Get to know the woodwind instruments of the orchestra up close with chamber music by Beethoven, Fran&ccedil;aix, Ibert, and more! Listeners will get to know each instrument individually as well as hear the many ways in which the sounds combine and interact to produce new colours. &nbsp;Come see first-hand how the woodwinds are the &quot;storytellers of the orchestra&quot; through rhythm and melody, and the ways in which their music can spark joy, humour, and whimsy.
