Rehema Home has become home to well over 200 kids since the first baby was rescued in the late 1990s. When you ask any of the adults who grew up in this family, they will say one word about Rehema Home: "Family". The children who had been orphaned and abandoned typically come into the home malnourished and sick. Each one belongs as a brother or sister from the moment they arrive. They are given so much more than just food and shelter: they are given a family. 🌱 The Acacia Project 🌱 is Rehema Home’s next step for our family. We are always dreaming of new ways to keep Rehema Home financially sustainable for our current children and for those who are still unborn. We have owned a property in Nairobi in a residential area that has sat undeveloped for many years. In late 2025, we broke ground on a two-family dwelling. One home will be a high-end rental property and will provide stable, monthly revenue for the work of Rehema Home. The other part of the build will be a beautiful, peaceful place for our founders, Irv and Ruth Schwandt, to retire from the day-to-day work of caring for orphans and allow them the space to "graduate" into grandparenthood. Every dollar toward this project will snowball into future sustainability rather than just paying for the next meal or next bill.

🌎 Rehema Home has existed for over 25 years 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾, rescuing nearly 200 children who’ve been orphaned or abandoned. Being in a loving home and belonging is key to their ability to thrive. But without an education ✏️ , there is no opportunity. That is why, as part of our home, 100% of kids are enrolled in a quality school 🏫 and graduate from high school. (Comparatively, on 26-42% of Kenyan children attend and graduate high school.) Last year, education cost Rehema Home over $18,000 USD 💰 in school costs like tuition, uniforms, shoes 👞, books 📚 and supplies 🎒, as well as to provide Kindergarten-readiness for pre-school aged children. Their education is expensive, but worth it! We’re preparing to fund the next term of school costs and would love your help!
