River Montessori High School

River Montessori High School empowers adolescents through a Montessori education, fostering independence, collaboration, and critical thinking. We aim to make quality education accessible, nurturing lifelong learners and engaged community members.

Our very first Young Writers Workshop invites students to explore storytelling, craft their own pieces, and share their voices in a supportive, Montessori-inspired setting. This workshop will be held between 9am-12pm beginning at Brain Lair Books. Here's a little preview of the texts students will dive into during this week:

Mon: Octavia Butler’s “Speech Sounds” - Scifi

Tues: Ursula K. But don't let the price be a barrier- if you have an interested child, please reach out to us to learn about scholarships for this program. If you are interested in supporting this scholarship fund, feel free to give an additional donation so that we can include as many writers as possible. Use this form to purchase the workshop, share contact details, and tell us about your child's interests as a writer. Your answers help us prepare materials, small-group activities, and guidance that match each student’s level of independence and creativity. Thank you for supporting a space where young people can write, reflect, and grow as thoughtful, engaged learners.

We've got a plastic problem. By we, of course that means all of us on planet earth. If we zoom in, we find the culprits of our microplastic emergency all over the place. At River, we're always thinking about how we can be more sustainable, and sometimes we stumble upon a way to make a small change that makes a big impact. We use distilled water every day of school for drinking water, for our electric kettle, for science labs, and for cooking our whole--foods lunches. After a recent recycling change made by the property we lease, we had a big conversation about how we can reduce before we thinking about recycling. We've identified a few obvious offenders, and we're starting by tackling the most egregious - the many plastic jugs of distilled water that cycle through our organization. By replacing our small water distiller with this larger model, we will take about 27 plastic jugs per month out of the production and waste cycle. That's at least 270 jugs per year! By contributing, you help us reduce plastic waste in an immediate and tangible way. We want to model to students how we can implement real-world sustainability in a practical, visible way 🌎. Thank you so much for your support!
