SUMMER YOGA OVERLOOKING POND AT RUTHERFURD HALL

Step into 1776 at Rutherfurd Hall as we explore how the Revolutionary era shaped this estate and the lives connected to it. This program looks closely at daily experiences before, during, and after the American Revolution. AUGUST 23, 2026 - &nbsp;LECTURE&nbsp; 1776&mdash;Before and After Before 1776 there was 1756. In that year Walter Rutherfurd arrived to fight in the French and Indian Wars. His 1758 marriage to Catherine Alexander Parker united two influential families and fortunes. The 1760 birth of their son, John Rutherfurd, would eventually, combine private enterprise with public service to the new nation.

250TH ANNIVERSARY OF AMERICA FIREWORKS CELEBRATION

Rutherfurd Hall Summer Camp offers an exciting, sports-focused experience for rising 4th&ndash;8th grade students, combining skill development, teamwork, and fun in a supportive environment. Hosted at Allamuchy Township School, the camp features both indoor and outdoor activities, including a variety of traditional and recreational sports such as basketball, volleyball, cornhole, and gaga ball. Each week is designed to promote leadership, sportsmanship, and active engagement, while providing campers with a daily snack and a camp T-shirt. With flexible weekly registration options and limited space available, this program is a great opportunity for students to stay active and connected throughout the summer.

Rio Clemente is a graduate of Juilliard and a master pianist who mixes a strong classical background with a rich knowledge of jazz history, adding an amazing sense of creativity and interpretation. He has appeared at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Newport Jazz Festival as well as the White House and the United Nations. He has become a favorite of jazz audiences for more than 40 years. Featuring Flip Peters on guitar, Tony Marino on bass and Tom Avitable on drums.

CANCELLED–Share in the Spirit of the Season: An Evening of Celebration and Giving

Step into history at Rutherfurd Hall and experience the extraordinary art of Elizabeth Shoumatoff, renowned portraitist of presidents, first ladies, and leading families of the twentieth century. Best known for her unfinished final portrait of Franklin D. Roosevelt, Shoumatoff had a lasting connection with the Rutherfurd family. This exhibit features rarely seen works, family portraits, and the story of Shoumatoff’s ties to Rutherfurd Hall. Join us for self-guided tours during open gallery hours. Visitors will explore the exhibit at their own pace, with access to interpretive materials and insights into both Shoumatoff’s artistry and the history of the Rutherfurd family.

Open Gallery Hours – The Patience to Pose: Elizabeth Shoumatoff, the Rutherfurds, and President Franklin D. Roosevelt

Join us for the opening reception and first viewing of an intimate exhibition of portraits by Elizabeth Shoumatoff, featuring a rare 1943 portrait of President Franklin D. Roosevelt alongside portraits of the Rutherfurd family. Elizabeth Shoumatoff painted leaders and luminaries across the twentieth century. At the heart of this exhibition is Elizabeth Shoumatoff’s 1943 portrait of President Franklin D. Roosevelt, painted at the White House in Washington, DC. Works on view also include portraits of members of the Rutherfurd family, whose Allamuchy estate is now Rutherfurd Hall. Together these portraits illuminate personal histories that connect a president, an artist, and a New Jersey home now dedicated to culture and education. Following the reception, the exhibition will be open to the public on Friday, September 19 and Saturday, September 20 during limited hours for an admission fee.
