His dissertation reviewed archived ayahuasca experience reports to identify transformational archetypes and insights that could help inform developing models of integration (meaning-making). Larry is the co-founder and executive director of Entheogenic Research, Integration, and Education (ERIE) a 501(c)(3) nonprofit located in the San Francisco Bay Area. ERIE is dedicated to the development of community education, research, and integration models related to entheogens. Breaking Barriers: Expanding Access to Psychedelic Therapies through Right to Try and Breakthrough Therapy Legislation

While antidepressants have shown benefits for many, their daily requirements, side effects, and withdrawal challenges can leave people feeling dependent on them, even when the benefits have been exhausted. Many prescribers may lack confidence in managing antidepressant tapering, or may not be familiar with how to taper, leading to unnecessary long-term use. Their journey began in Emergency Medical Services before transitioning to nursing in 1996, and psychedelic medicines have since played a transformative role in their personal healing from childhood trauma, PTSD, and depression. As a self-identified wounded healer and queer practitioner (she/they), Kari brings both professional expertise and lived experience to their work, allowing them to be a compassionate witness to others' healing journeys. Their background includes deep connections with and understanding of the LGBTQIA+, military, and substance use communities. Through their own experiences with trauma, grief, and recovery, they developed a profound understanding of suffering that enables them to be a supportive partner in others' healing processes.
