Three Cosplay Class &amp; Workshops for making your first cosplay in time for FanX. For new and novice cosplayers, those interested in the hobby that haven&#39;t done it before as well as those who are looking to use more complicated techniques including sewing, body paint, electronic aspects (Lights and Ventilation), and foam crafting - all with an emphasis on finding affordable ways to do it. Each class will run from 5pm-8pm for 3 consecutive Tuesdays at the Secondhand Salamander Workshop. If we end up with a lot of attendees, we may need to move it to the Kearns library. The first class will focus on attendees learning about the different methods used in making cosplay and will be a workshop for each attendee to create a valid, written action plan to complete their costume. After this class it is expected that attendees will have a list of what materials they need to acquire and are expected to begin acquisition before the next class. The second class will be focused entirely as a workshop for helping attendees craft their costumes! We will teach sewing, working with EVA foam, and painting supplies. By the end of this session it is expected that all attendees will have begun construction of various aspects of their costumes, with smaller pieces finished or well on their way and larger pieces partially constructed. It is expected that attendees from here will have all the knowledge they need to finish their costumes. The third class will be a second workshop with an emphasis on solving issues that have arisen since the second class. Not all ideas work out in practice so this class is for those who end up needing an experienced helper to find workarounds, assist with repairs, or solve any new problems that have been found. This class is the most optional, but all are welcome even if they just want a second workshop.(Important Note: These workshops are designed to provide the knowledge and assistance needed to finish a cosplay you are proud of. The majority of work will need to be done by the attendee outside the workshops.) All Ages are Welcome! Suggested donation is $25 per person per session, but as always, it&#39;s pay what you want! You can also include the purchase of supplies in your donation, or you can bring your own! We have apparel fabric, buttons, beads, leather, and more that you can use for your cosplay.

Join us for Morgan&#39;s Card Class 🦎✨ Learn simple, creative techniques to turn secondhand and recycled materials into one-of-a-kind cards. Morgan will guide you step by step, so you can relax, experiment, and play with color and texture. You can pick paper and embellishments from our paper room to create with! By signing up, you support Secondhand Salamander&rsquo;s mission to keep creativity accessible and sustainable. You&rsquo;ll leave with finished cards, fresh ideas, and practical ways to reuse everyday materials in your own art. 📬

Learn to knit while supporting sustainablity. 🧶🌱 In this class, you&rsquo;ll practice the basics of knitting using yarn sourced from donated and secondhand supplies. By signing up, you help reduce waste and keep good materials in use. All skill levels are welcome&mdash;whether you&rsquo;re casting on for the first time or picking the needles back up, we&rsquo;ll learn together in a relaxed, community-focused setting.

Knitting Class

Slow down with a needle and thread 🧵 in this hands-on embroidery class. Learn basic stitches, experiment with color, and turn secondhand fabrics into something new and personal. All materials are provided, using rescued textiles that reflect our creativity and sustainability mission. Beginners and seasoned makers are equally welcome&mdash;just bring your curiosity and a willingness to try. 🦎

Beux will be teaching a visible mending class! We&#39;ll be using hand sewing/embroidery techniques to mend our clothes and make them look even better than they were before. Bring an item of clothing you&#39;d like to mend, and there will be supplies here that you can use. The suggested donation is $15 to pay for the class and supplies, but like everything in the store it&#39;s pay what you can. Sign up here!&nbsp;

Angela is teaching an embroidery class! We&#39;ll be doing a simple pumpkin outline with a few vines and leaves. Angela will show how to trace a pattern, put the fabric in the hoop, thread the needle, make a knot, start and stop the thread, and a few different stitches. &nbsp; You will be able to take your pattern/fabric, hoop, thread, needle, and needle threader home. Then you will just need scissors to cut thread and a hairdryer or iron to erase the lines. &nbsp;Suggested donation is $15 per person per session, but as always, it&#39;s pay what you want! All your supplies are covered in your registration!
