We connect people, community spaces and services to make Sherburn in Elmet and villages an inclusive and vibrant place to live.
We operate The Old Girls' School Community Centre and Sherburn & Villages Community Library.

A writer&rsquo;s group for non-writers? How is that possible? Because you don&#39;t have to be a writer to join our group. If you&#39;re interested in storytelling, want to learn something new or simply &#39;have a go&#39; then why not come along?&nbsp; It&#39;s friendly and free. No need to book. Non-writers / shy people / ages 18+ welcome.&nbsp; We are a group of writers, poets, actors, artists and other arty types who come together once a month, to write, share and support each other&#39;s work. We meet on the first Wednesday of every month, from 7 - 9pm - at Sherburn &amp; Villages Community Library, a safe space in which to increase skill, confidence and a sense of wellbeing. We all use words, every day, so why not use them to create something wonderful?&nbsp; Questions? Cuppa Connect is a welcoming space for everyone, every Tuesday 1-3pm at The Old Girls&#39; School Community Centre. 18 Kirkgate, Sherburn in Elmet LS25 6BL. We offer a chance to get out of the house, have a chat and sometimes participate in activities or listen to speakers including local police, fire service or energy doctor.Accompanied tots and children are welcome, too - we have some toys and free use of baby scales. Free refreshments are available. Sherburn Library was saved from closure in 2017 when it was taken over by a local charity and run by volunteers.&nbsp; Today we still open thanks to the amazing dedication of our local volunteers. As well as books supplied by North Yorkshire Council Library Service, we offer hot drinks, comfy sofas, newspapers &amp; magazines, jigsaws &amp; games, computers &amp; wifi, an accessible toilet, printer, photocopier, laminating and a friendly information service. Thank you for supporting our mission, your support is invaluable.
