Spiritus Chamber Choir And Performing Arts Ensemble Society

Spiritus Chamber Choir enriches Calgary's cultural landscape through choral music, celebrating Canadian composers and diverse musical heritage. Their mission is to inspire community connection and appreciation for the beauty of vocal arts.

Join us for a jubilant celebration in 30: From the First Note, where music and memories come together to mark our 30th anniversary. This concert honours the spirit of Spiritus Chamber Choir with a newly commissioned work by Canadian Composer Katerina Gimon featuring text by Calgary&rsquo;s Poet Laureate Shone Thistle, and a collection of unforgettable pieces that have defined our three decade musical journey. Time is always in motion, carrying us through endings, beginnings, and moments of transformation. Turning Season explores life&#39;s cycles through music that reflects change and renewal, culminating in the world premiere of I Am Not Yours by Ethan Taylor, 2026 winner of the Inaugural Spiritus Composition Competition. Celebrate the warmth and wonder of the Christmas season with an evening of uplifting choral music. Joined by the acclaimed Spirit Vocal Ensemble, Spiritus Chamber Choir presents a festive program filled with joy, hope, and the spirit of the season. This event is at 3:00pm Local Calgary Time.&nbsp;

Radiant Joy

Celebrate the richness and diversity of Canadian choral music in a program that showcases the voices of today&#39;s composers. The concert features the world premiere of a new work commissioned for Spiritus by acclaimed Canadian composer Katerina Gimon, alongside a collection of compelling contemporary Canadian works inspired by the people, landscapes, and stories of this land. From This Land

Eric Whitacre&#39;s The Sacred Veil is an intimate and deeply moving meditation on love, loss, and the enduring power of memory. Performed as a complete work, this extraordinary collaboration between Whitacre and poet Charles Anthony Silvestri invites audiences on a profoundly human journey through grief, hope, and healing. This event is at 3:00pm Local Calgary Time.&nbsp;

The Sacred Veil

The 2026&ndash;2027 season of Spiritus Chamber Choir traces a journey through growth, light, renewal, and transformation. Across four concerts, the season explores music inspired by the natural world, the rhythms of the year, and the shared human impulse toward reflection and hope. From an autumn program grounded in gratitude and beauty, through a radiant and energetic seasonal concert in December, to a spring focus on contemporary Canadian voices, Spiritus presents repertoire that is expressive, thoughtful, and rooted in both national and international choral traditions. The season culminates in a powerful year end concert that looks forward, embracing momentum, resilience, and the possibilities that lie ahead.
