Stonington Garden Club Gardens by the Sea

The Stonington Garden Club promotes environmental education and community engagement through gardening. Their annual 'Gardens by the Sea' tour showcases local gardens, supporting projects that foster a love for gardening and conservation in the community.

Gardens by the Sea (June 12 &amp; 13, 10-4 both days) is a self-guided garden tour through the historic Borough of Stonington. Experience the beauty hidden beyond its garden gates and explore waterfront vistas, terraced landscapes, and enchanted pocket gardens, designed in styles ranging from formal to eclectic. The tour will showcase 9-10 gardens, as well as several ribbon gardens. All gardens are within a half mile of each other, and free parking will be available. The event is rain or shine and tickets are non-refundable. Stonington Garden Club tours are distinctive for botanical plant labels, and this year, many gardens will feature experts, such as a Master Gardener, horticulturist, or landscape designer, to share insights and answer questions. &quot;Plein Air&quot; artists will be painting in selected gardens. In addition, there will be a tented Marketplace on Wadawanuck Square featuring garden-inspired items, clothing, jewelry, and home decor. To celebrate our 100th anniversary, the Club invested in our two public community gardens and transformed them with native plantings. These gardens, along with our beloved Stonington Community Center (COMO) Children&#39;s Learning Garden, may be enjoyed as part of the tour.&nbsp; Gardens by the Sea is the Stonington Garden Club&#39;s primary fundraiser, supporting the Club&#39;s community programs, projects, and grants that reflect its purpose: to educate and encourage interest in the environment, conservation, and community projects, and to stimulate the knowledge and love of gardening among its members and the community.
