Membership in the Summit County Retired Teachers Association is open to all teachers and administrators who retired from a Summit County public school district. By joining SCRTA, you will be supporting our mission and vision:Mission StatementThe mission of the Summit County Retired Teachers Association (SCRTA) is to inform members about policies and legislation impacting education and educators, active or retired, to build community connections via scholarships, grants, and support for organizations and to foster a social environment for new and old friendships.Vision StatementSCRTA strives to build a large, motivated organization that seeks to enhance education in both our schools and our community. In addition, SCRTA works to raise awareness of the impact of legislation on educators, schools, and STRS.In support of our Mission and Vision, SCRTA hosts four general membership luncheons every year, each of which includes a guest speaker or entertainment, an informative business meeting, and meeting and talking with fellow retirees. We also publishes four newsletters annually as well as intermittent email news updates. Each year we award scholarships to deserving Summit County students and classroom grants to Summit County teachers Finally, we act as a vehicle through which our organization and members may support year-long giving campaigns to two very worthy non-profits: Ronald McDonald House of Akron and Safe Landing.Thank you for choosing to be part of our cause.
