Symphony Of The Kootenays Association

Symphony of the Kootenays fosters community connection through innovative musical experiences, blending orchestral music with storytelling and cultural traditions, celebrating the land and its heritage while inviting audiences to listen and reflect.

On the Horizon is an outdoor gathering shaped by sound, story, and place. Set beneath open sky, the concert brings together orchestral music, Eagle Bear Spirit drummers, and storyteller Joe Pierre, in a shared celebration of the land that holds us. Drums carry across the air with a steady, grounding pulse, while spoken word threads through the evening and music unfolds in conversation with the landscape itself. Designed as an experience rather than a traditional concert, the evening invites audiences to listen differently, with the land as both setting and partner. It is a moment of connection, reflection, and gratitude, honouring where we come from and what lies ahead. The music will start as sunset approaches but this ticket buys provides you access to the historic Fort Steele Heritage Town for the entire day.

A Season of Giving - The Gift of Music

An intimate afternoon of chamber music spanning three distinct musical worlds. Dvořák’s warm, richly lyrical String Quintet in G major opens the journey, followed by the wit, colour, and crisp energy of Hindemith’s Kleine Kammermusik. After intermission, Beethoven’s radiant Septet in E-flat major takes centre stage, a work brimming with elegance, charm, and invention. In this close-up setting, every musical voice is distinct and every phrase personal, inviting audiences to experience music across generations that feels both grand and wonderfully immediate.
