What happens when neighbors of different faiths sit down together for meaningful conversation, good food, and genuine fellowship? faith250 is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to do just that as we prepare to celebrate America&#39;s 250th anniversary. Nearly two dozen faith communities from across the NEPA are coming together for a series of four gatherings centered on the words and ideas that have shaped our nation. Our first conversation explores the lyrics of &quot;America the Beautiful&quot; and will be held at Temple Hesed and feature light refreshments. People of all faiths - and no faith - are welcome.There is no cost to attend, but your RSVP is required.

Temple Hesed, along with the Scranton Area Multifaith Ministerium, will be in charge of a creative craft project, inspired by Faith250 &mdash; we&rsquo;ll be helping the children (and any adults who wish) to make themselves Statue of Liberty crowns and torches &mdash; and they can then photograph themselves in front of a backdrop with the New York skyline! &nbsp;Whether or not you can volunteer, we need you to bring us your empty TP and paper towel roll tubes &mdash; they&rsquo;re the base of the torches. &nbsp;Volunteers can also help with greeting people at the door, food, face painting, soccer, games, and more. &nbsp;Volunteers are needed for three shifts &mdash; noon to 2 for setup, 2-5 for help with the event, and 4-6 for breakdown.

World Refugee Day

Come celebrate Shabbat at Temple Hesed&rsquo;s 3rd Friday Night Shabbat Dinner &mdash; featuring a relaxed summer cookout followed by Services Under the Stars. &nbsp;Everyone is welcome - especially dads - as we kick off Father&#39;s Day Weekend. On the menu: summertime grilling favorites, fresh fruit, salads, sides, and all the easy Friday night vibes. There is a recommended donation of $15 per person or $10 for children under 10.&nbsp; Your support helps Temple Hesed continue creating warm, welcoming community gatherings for all. Cooking &amp; Serving at the NEPA Youth Shelter Join Temple Hesed&rsquo;s Social Action Task Force as we prepare and serve dinner for youth at the NEPA Youth Shelter in Scranton.On Tuesday, May 19, we&rsquo;ll be cooking a simple, comforting meal&mdash;pasta bake, meatballs, garlic bread, salad, and brownies&mdash;for approximately 50 kids. Volunteers arrive 2:30&ndash;3:00 PM to prep and cook. Lag B'Omer

DATE CHANGE - INCLEMENT WEATHER&nbsp;RAIN DATE: SUNDAY, APRIL 25 Grab your shovels, throw on comfortable clothes, and join us for a hands-on day of impact. Led by our Social Action Task Force and organized by Olga Trushina, we&rsquo;re partnering with the Clarks Green Shade Commission and other local groups for a community Earth Day initiative.Together, we&rsquo;ll plant native trees and plants&mdash;beautifying our surroundings while putting Tikkun Olam (repairing the world) into action. It&rsquo;s a meaningful way to give back, get your hands in the dirt, and connect with others in our community. Come be part of something that grows. 🌱

Join us for a meaningful, welcoming Second Night Passover Community Seder as we gather to retell the story of the Exodus, share traditions, and celebrate together. Whether this is your first Seder or one you look forward to each year, celebrating in together adds something special &mdash; connection, song, reflection, and a shared table. This year&rsquo;s Seder will be fully Passover-approved and catered by Posh, allowing everyone to relax and fully participate in the evening.
