The August Foundation for Alaska Racing Dogs aka The August Fund

The August Foundation for Alaska Racing Dogs supports the welfare of racing dogs through rescue, rehabilitation, and advocacy, ensuring they receive the care and compassion they deserve while promoting responsible ownership and community awareness.

Aug Dogs Spay/Neuter Program: recently adopted and currently fostered!&nbsp;Register below for our August Spay/Neuter Clinic. Your appointment helps us complete the circle of responsible kahu&nbsp;(This beautiful word comes from Hawaiian culture. A kahu views an animal not as mere property, but of you acting as guardian of your cherished companion ). What to expect 🩺 Our team provides safe, respectful care and clear aftercare guidance. You will drop off your dog in an airline crate (or let us know if you need one on site) between 7:00 and 8:00 am. at the Eagle River Lions Club (Blue building - even space bottom level). Dr. Stacey Thomas, DVM, her technician will assess each dog prior to surgery and place in order of procedure. We will have several volunteers on hand to help monitor each dog during post surgery recovery. If you would like to volunteer let us know. We will contact you when your dog is ready for pick up.&nbsp; Special InstructionsNo food or water after 8 pm the night before surgery.

This donation will help a lot to achieve our mission. We'll be able to : - Prep dogs for adoption by updating vaccinations and spaying or neutering - Feed foster dogs or forever fosters in our care - Add to our veterinary care fund for unexpected emergencies- Cover transportation costs for pick up and transfer of dogs arriving or departing from airport or mushing kennels

Every dollar goes directly to provide spay/neuter surgeries, including: veterinarian, vet technician, medications and materials needed to provide each procedure.&nbsp;$25 helps pay for meds and sutures for each dog. $250 covers the entire cost of one spay or neuter procedure.
