Founded in 2017, The Black Trans Prayer Book is an organization born from our text of the same name, which was published after years of healing and organizing work with (and as) Black Trans & Non-Binary leaders. Through the creation of materials such as books, films, theater and other media, along with healing spaces, community education and workshops centering Black Trans & Non-Binary people (along with our solidarity partners), we seek to bring about a world where Black Trans & Non-Binary people are fully liberated.As the philanthropic landscape has changed, our organization, like many community based groups, has lost considerable amounts of funding. While we have maintained a vigorous commitment to the community, everything from the technology we use to maintain the virtual community center, to paying for staff time to hosting community meals costs financial support. We are so excited for the work happening and know the work we are doing is needed, however, our biggest challenge is currently securing the funds to keep this work sustainable.Donations to this campaign will go towards General Operating Costs. This includes 5 paid staff, tech costs, travel needs, healthcare stipends, supplies and the ability to decide what areas of the work are in need of support.
