The Gathering Ground CIC promotes the wellbeing of care-experienced individuals through nature-based programmes and community support, fostering growth, resilience and belonging in the wide web of life. 

Join our raffle for your chance to win a beautiful framed and signed print from Bafta and Emmy award-winning Cameraman, Ian McCarthy, raising funds to launch The Gathering Ground CIC! A Glimpse into Ian&rsquo;s Extraordinary WorldAcross more than thirty years of adventure, Ian has filmed in over sixty countries and some of the most remote places on Earth &mdash; from the Antarctic Peninsula to the Peruvian rainforest canopy. His experiences include:Filming macaws high in the rainforest treetopsTracking wolves across northern GreenlandCamping among gentoo penguins for monthsSnorkelling with thousands of salmon in crystal‑clear Alaskan watersCrossing the Sahara with nomadic TuaregAnd even negotiating with a large brown bear as it walked off with his camera &mdash; while it was still rolling!<p fr-original-style="box-sizing: inherit; max-width: 100%; color: inherit !important; width: 380.8px; margin-inline: 0px !important; margin: 0px; line-height: 1.5;" style="box-sizing: inherit; max-width: 100%; width: 380.8px; line-height: 1.5; color: inherit !important; margin-inline: 0px !important; margin: 0px;"> Ian shares:&ldquo;I have spent my life in wild places amongst extraordinary creatures &mdash; from tropical rainforest and open ocean to Arctic sea ice and desert dunes.&nbsp;In this talk I will share experiences from time spent in wilderness amongst wild creatures large and smalland how that changed my life&#39;&#39; We have 7 selected pieces of his work up for grabs in this raffle, with Ian&#39;s work normally selling for &pound;350 per piece this is your opportunity to own a beautiful print of some of the animals Ian has had the privilege of getting to film, photograph and spend time with, for a fraction of the price.&nbsp; Most pieces are 118cmx58, with two slightly larger. They all come in beautiful wooden frames and have been re-mounted and glassed by the very talented Beanie&#39;s Framers in Dartington.&nbsp; If you&#39;ve been lucky enough to get a ticket to our Thousand Wild Dawns evening, the pieces will be on display for the evening! At The Gathering Ground&nbsp;we create ongoing connection for care‑experienced young people, offering relationship, stability and a sense of belonging when they need it most. Your support will help us to run our two core offerings for young people: Roots to Rise supports care experienced young people as they move toward adult life. Through a year of monthly gatherings, weekly check-ins, and seasonal residential camps, participants grow a strong sense of belonging, relational resilience, and self-trust, grounded in experiential, reflective, and nature-based practice. Finding Your Place in the Living World offers a range of in-person and online gatherings and activities that support young adults to navigate the ups and downs of independent life. These are spaces to keep connection alive beyond care: to reflect, regroup, learn, and move toward the life you want to build.
