Hi! I&rsquo;m Cheryl Martelli, a 68 year old mom, a grandmother, a Fairfax Church member, and on April 10, I&rsquo;ll begin my amazing six-month-ish challenge of hiking 2,198 miles from Georgia to Maine on the Appalachian Trail with my sister, Shawn Mach.&nbsp; This journey is a personal challenge that will require perseverance, courage, and loads of persistence and determination! But, the most meaningful motivation for me is that I&rsquo;ll be walking &ldquo;Miles that Matter&quot;! With every mile walked donors can help provide food, hygiene items, and essential household supplies through a non-profit organization very near to my heart - The&nbsp;Resource Center of Northern Virginia. Their mission is that no child goes without basic food and essentials needed to thrive. They are an emergency support program providing food basic care items to those struggling in the cycle of poverty in my community. While I&rsquo;ll be &ldquo;hungry&rdquo; on the trail by choice, many face food insecurity every day. Each mile my sister and I walk, represents a step toward greater stability for families facing food insecurity. Will you take this step with me to help families and celebrate my miles walked for Miles that Matter?
