Common Denominator empowers students through innovative math education, fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills to prepare them for academic success and lifelong learning.

On November 1st 2026, our friend, volunteer tutor, and Associate Board member Adarsh Suresh will be running the NYC Marathon. We wish him luck! The great part of this effort is that he has offered to use it to raise funds for Common Denominator, a New York nonprofit that provides one-on-one math tutoring to middle-school students from underserved backgrounds. Common Denominator meets students where they are—whether that means helping them tackle the next chapter in their textbook, strengthening foundational math skills, or building confidence in areas where they’ve struggled. Through individualized support from volunteer tutors, we aim not only to help students improve their math skills, but also to foster a more positive relationship with learning and greater confidence in their ability to succeed. Your support helps make this one-on-one tutoring possible and gives students the skills and confidence to open doors and broaden their horizons.
