Tuolumne Arts Alliance

Tuolumne County Arts fosters creativity and community engagement through arts education, exhibitions, and events. They support local artists and promote the arts as a vital part of the cultural landscape in Tuolumne County.

Students will use recycled cardboard to make simple props or shapes that can be painted and used in the Handmade Parade Saturday October 3rd. Students can sign up for as many classes as they want to. In the event they do not finish their project in the two workshop classes they are welcome to take them home and finish on their own. This workshop is intended for ages 7 and up.

Cardboard Galore

Have fun sewing with Jen at this workshop, making small wearables you can use for your Handmade Parade costume- or just for fun! All Supplies and tools provided - but feel free to bring materials from your stash or your favorite scissors!&nbsp; You may sign up for as many classes as youd like, however, it is unlikely we would be able finish projects, in class, in only one session. You are welcome to start with us and finish on your own if you wish, or come back as many times as you&#39;d like to continue working on or finish your project. This workshop is appropriate for ages 7 and up, prior sewing experience is helpful, but not necessary!

Capes, Collars, Epaulets, & Wristlets

Students will participate in making an art banner, bunting, garland, or flag, selecting from our vast assortment of vintage and recycled fabrics. Additional visual elements can be added with contrasting fabric, like shapes, letters or numbers, to create visual interest, as well as embroidery techniques, using threads and yarn. Finish with bells, ribbons, or soda pop tabs and you&#39;ve got a beautiful fabric art piece to display at home or bring to festivals or your next campground!&nbsp; Students are not guaranteed to finish a project in one class; which is why we are offering multiple classes for each workshop: students are encouraged to attend more than one class, or plan to finish the project at home. This workshop is appropriate for ages 7 and up. Prior sewing experience is helpful, but not necessary.

Thank you for your interest in entering our 2026 Outside the Box fundraising show and auction! Please make sure to read the information, rules, and terms in this description carefully before completing your entry registration. IMPORTANT RULES,&nbsp;TERMS, &amp; DETAILS Entries:<ul fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;"><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Entry forms can be completed through 11:59pm January 31, 2026, and completed entries must be dropped off in-person at TCA&#39;s main studio office&nbsp;(21 N. Washington St, Sonora, CA)&nbsp;no later than February 2, 2026.</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Only individuals who pay the standard $20 entry price will receive a discounted TCA membership.</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Individual artists may submit a maximum of 3 entries. For those who wish to submit together as a family or group the limit is 5 entries total OR, if the amount is greater than 5, a limit of 1 entry per person.</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">In the case that a submission is unable to be accepted to the show, TCA will refund the artist their $20 membership portion of the standard&nbsp;entry fee. The $5 box fees are non-refundable.</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Artists should be prepared to upload 1&ndash;3 photos of their work at the time of submission, in JPG or PNG format. Photos can be simple, but must show the work clearly, preferably with as plain a background as possible (a solid black background is ideal). At least one photo should show the entire piece clearly from the front, at a straightforward angle. For additional photos TCA suggests something from the side (45&ordm; or full side profile) and/or a detailed closeup. Instructions on how to submit your photos will be emailed to you upon the completion of your entry form. If NO photos are submitted before the drop-off deadline, your piece will NOT be accepted to the show.</li></ul>Disclaimers:<ul fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;"><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">It is possible that some entries may not be admitted to the show, particularly if, for example, they are unable to be safely, appropriately, or easily displayed&mdash;or if they are not submitted properly or on time. To decrease the chance of your work being rejected, please refer to our&nbsp;<a fr-original-style="" href="https://www.mytuolumnecountyarts.org/outsidethebox" rel="noopener noreferrer" style="text-decoration-color: initial; user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">website</a>&nbsp;or <a fr-original-style="" href="https://d87c3aab-126b-433d-9a07-5a5f7723a488.filesusr.com/ugd/6cb9d7_93482f13bf2b47ab97fc445aebd6f2cf.pdf" rel="noopener noreferrer" style="text-decoration-color: initial; user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">information packet</a> to carefully read through the detailed submission guidelines.</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">TCA is experienced in handling artworks and will handle all entries with the utmost care, but is not liable for any potential damage to submitted pieces.</li></ul>Sales &amp; Profits:<ul fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;"><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">All entries will be made available for sale during the Outside the Box exhibition period through an online, silent auction format. The auction web page will be active on TCA&rsquo;s website throughout the extent of the show. Profits from auction sales will be divided and distributed to artists as payment for their work(s) and to TCA as fundraising for our operational costs.</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">At the time of entry, artists will set their own Artist Profit Value, which will be the exact amount that the artist is paid upon the sale of their work. This will account for 70% of the Starting Bid Price, and will be used to determine that value using the following formula: Artist Profit Value &divide; 70% (0.7) = Starting Bid Price (rounded to the nearest $). Artist Profit Values&nbsp;must start at a minimum of at least $28, which would then equal a Starting Bid Price of $40.</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Sale profits of all works will be split between TCA and the respective artists after the completion of the show. The value of the Starting Bid Price will be distributed as such: 70% to the artist, 30% to TCA. All Additional Bid profits beyond the Starting Bid Price are to be donated to TCA. Bidding will occur in $10 increments and Additional Bids include any amount above the Starting Bid Price.</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Artists will be paid their portion of sales via check within 2&ndash;4 weeks from the end of the show. Checks will be delivered by mail, so please make sure the address and contact information in your entry form is correct and up-to-date.</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Artists of works that have not been sold will be contacted by TCA and have the opportunity to reclaim their pieces within 2 weeks from the end of the show. After that time period, UNCLAIMED works will become the full property of TCA to display, sell, or give away at our discretion. </li></ul>

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES Physical Requirements:SIZE: The recommended size limit for entries is 30&rdquo; x 30&rdquo; or smaller. WEIGHT: The preferred maximum weight is 5 lbs or less for entries meant to be hung. Entries that are not designed to hang must be light enough to lift easily. MATERIALS: Materials must not be of a type or state that would be disruptive to the show&mdash;i.e. still wet/sticky/unfinished, creating a mess, smelly, hazardous, etc. CONSTRUCTION: Entries MUST use at least one TCA box, purchased with entry. Artists may purchase additional boxes for $5 to combine into one creation if they wish. DISPLAY: Entries must be stable and secure enough to display and move safely! For example: glue should be fully dried, pieces should not be loose, and the structure should not be too delicate. Hanging entries must be prepared with a proper wire-hanging attachment (please see the 2023 Small Works Show <a fr-original-style="" href="https://d87c3aab-126b-433d-9a07-5a5f7723a488.filesusr.com/ugd/6cb9d7_492bf162a99b4dacaef1dca4e9dcf378.pdf" rel="noopener noreferrer" style="text-decoration-color: initial; user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">hanging guidelines</a> for reference). Hooks, sawtooth backings, and other types of hanging hardware are not acceptable for our venue, and pieces that do not meet the hanging requirements may be adjusted by TCA staff in order to be hung properly. Non-hanging entries must be sturdy enough to stand securely on their own. Content Requirements:This is a family-friendly show and will be displayed in an active workspace. Please do not submit a piece that would be too inappropriate for all-ages or for an office environment (for example: highly graphic depictions of gore).
