Every quilt tells a story. Discover the artistry, history, and storytelling woven into the African American quilting tradition. Meet Christine, a self-taught quilter whose handcrafted quilts have been featured at UCP’s Paul Robeson Arts Festival. Hear about her quilting journey, view her beautiful creations, and enjoy a live demonstration as we explore how quilting connects stories, traditions, and community—stitched together. Join us at the Bridgewater Public Library in Meeting Room B. All are welcome!

Quilting Time: Stitching Stories, Preserving Memory, Building Community

Young Paul Robeson SingsPresented by Ubuntu Cultural Pavilion Step into the voice, spirit, and rising power of a young Paul Robeson. Written and directed by Marshall Jones III, this stirring theatrical production features acclaimed Broadway vocalist Nathaniel Stampley, Jr., stage and screen actor Stephen Conrad Moore, and musical director and pianist Carl Laventure. Through music and reflection, an elder Paul Robeson looks back on his younger self—a defining period when his extraordinary gifts first took shape. Rooted in history and alive with sound, Young Paul Robeson Sings is more than a performance—it is a living tribute to the formative years that helped shape one of the most powerful voices of the 20th century. The Paul Robeson Arts Festival was made possible by funds from the Somerset County Cultural & Heritage Commission, a partner of the New Jersey Council on the Arts.

UCP Mini Pop UP/Community Scan Day Help Preserve Our Community’s Stories:Ubuntu Cultural Pavilion is seeking photographs and service information from community veterans—including those on active duty—to enhance our ongoing Veterans Series installations. Photos will be scanned and photocopied, then returned to you immediately. As St. Paul Baptist Church prepares to celebrate its 100th anniversary in February 2027, we are also gathering artifacts and documents that help tell the story of this remarkable community journey. We welcome church programs, photographs, newspaper articles, obituaries, and other materials that illuminate St. Paul’s history in Somerville. All are welcome!
