Uganda Dream School

The Uganda Dream School protects and empowers the neediest children in Kasenge, Uganda, by providing a free quality education, two meals a day, care, and for some, a place to live. Currently pre-K through middle school, and a high school coming soon!

Last Wednesday Ron met the district school supervisors at our new high school site for an inspection. Unfortunately, they refused to approve the school with students sleeping in classrooms. Ron tried to explain that it would be a temporary solution until a dormitory is built, and previous inspectors had agreed to that, but still they will not allow the school to open. Ron writes, &ldquo;I know you all work really hard to support our community and this is disappointing news. I am very disappointed by their heartless decision, and everyone here is heartbroken, so sad for the kids who have been waiting.&rdquo;&nbsp; We are especially concerned by the vulnerability of kids at this age outside of the school environment; the boys tend to get involved with bad groups out of frustration and the girls are offered up for marriage by their families. The inspectors may be stubborn, but the Dream School community is tenacious. &nbsp;After getting the sad news, Ron met with Gladys whose grandson hopes to attend Dream High School, and she donated two cows for us to sell to help raise funds for the construction; a helper has already gone to find the animal trader to see how much we can get for them. Ron also received a donation of 1,000 bricks from a well-wisher, and plans to speak to his friends at Rotary Club to see what they can do to help. In addition to this, our angel donor has provided $5,000 to begin work on the foundation for the dormitory and has offered to match additional donations up to $2,500. This means your gift will go twice as far! The total cost for construction of a two-room dormitory similar to the classroom building will be about $27,000. Doable? &nbsp;Our history says yes! We ask that you reach out to family, friends, co-workers and community members who may not have heard about the Dream School. Let us know if we can provide support for a fundraiser in any way. We can give a virtual presentation to your church group or other organization.
