The Dollywood Foundation has announced September 25 as the first annual Give Like Dolly Day, a day dedicated to honoring Dolly’s generous heart by supporting the local organizations carrying her mission forward. Here in Susquehanna County, more than 900 children receive a FREE, age-appropriate book in their mailbox every month through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. While Dolly dreamed it, local partners like the United Way of Susquehanna County and the community that supports us make it possible.So, on September 25 (9/25), we’re inviting local businesses, banks, schools, organizations, offices, and workplaces to join us and Give Like Dolly!Participation can be as simple or creative as you’d like. Here are a few ideas:Give $9, $2, or $5 in honor of 9/25Host a Dress Down for Dolly Day and ask employees to donate to participateEncourage staff to wear pink, rhinestones, or a little Dolly-inspired sparkleSet out a Dolly Day donation jarHost a bake sale or small office fundraiserChallenge another department, business, or organization to participateOr come up with your own fun way to Give Like Dolly!Every dollar raised locally will support our Imagination Library program and help us continue putting books directly into the hands and homes of children in Susquehanna County.Those dollars add up quickly: $30 provides books for one child for an entire year, while $150 supports one child for the life of the program.
