Help Us Share Warmth and Food with Our Neighbors As colder weather approaches, many families are balancing the cost of winter clothing with the cost of putting food on the table. The "Coat Check" & Community Food Share Drive is a chance for our community to come together around both needs. On Sunday, October 18, from 12–4 PM, UNITYNow will welcome neighbors to Suitland Community Center to drop off new or gently used coats and winter outerwear. We’re also inviting food banks and community partners to help us provide food to attendees. Families can stay for music, children’s activities, and time to connect. Whether you bring a coat or simply come to connect, everyone is welcome here. Donations to this campaign will help UNITYNow cover venue cost, supplies, refreshments, beverages, games and activities needed to host a welcoming and well-organized drive. Food banks and other partners can help by contributing food or supporting its distribution at the event. Will you join us? Give a financial gift, contribute winter items, or partner with us to share food. Together, we can help neighbors feel supported and connected. Every dollar goes to action:

Purchasing new coats and outerwear

Supporting local distribution in under-resourced communities

Backing UNITYNow’s education and community service efforts

Join us in advancing culture, creating opportunity, and building a future where everyone belongs. At UNITYNow, we believe that every person deserves the opportunity to thrive - not just survive. We exist to bridge the gap between inequality and unity by creating spaces where people feel seen, valued, connected, and empowered. Our work goes beyond providing services. We build relationships. We cultivate trust. We strengthen communities from within. What makes UNITYNow different is our commitment to people before programs. We don’t believe lasting change happens through one-time events or temporary solutions. It happens when individuals know they belong, when families have access to meaningful opportunities, and when communities are equipped with the resources, knowledge, and support they need to create their own future.Every dollar you give helps us:

Expand access to life-changing opportunities.

Connect individuals with critical resources and supportive networks.

Build stronger, healthier, and more resilient communities.

Foster leadership, confidence, and economic mobility.

Create safe, welcoming spaces where everyone has the opportunity to grow.

Your generosity is more than a donation, it is an investment in human potential. Together, we are creating communities where hope replaces barriers, opportunity replaces limitations, and unity becomes more than a word, it becomes a way of life. Whether your gift is $25, $100, $500, or more, every contribution helps move our mission forward and reminds someone that their community believes in them. Donate today. This Thanksgiving, help UNITYNow ensure that local families can gather around a table filled with food, comfort, and hope. For many families, the rising cost of groceries has made preparing a traditional Thanksgiving meal increasingly difficult. No parent should have to choose between paying an essential household bill and providing a holiday meal for their family. Through our Thanksgiving Turkey Drive, UNITYNow is collecting donations to provide turkeys to families within the DMV experiencing financial hardship. We have a goal of providing 200 turkeys to families. Every contribution, regardless of the amount, will help place a turkey on a family’s table and remind our neighbors that they are seen, supported, and surrounded by a community that cares. Your donation provides more than a meal. It creates a moment of togetherness, preserves a cherished tradition, and gives families the opportunity to celebrate Thanksgiving with dignity and joy. Together, we can turn generosity into full tables, grateful hearts, and meaningful memories. Please donate today and help us ensure that every family has something special to place at the center of their Thanksgiving table. Give thanks. Give a turkey. Give hope.
