In Loving Memory of Neil Henry Clarke Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord? I have heard you calling in the night; I will go, Lord, if you lead me. I will hold your people in my heart.*Credit : Dan Shutte Neil Henry Clarke was a loving father, husband, son, brother and member of the many communities he served. Neil Henry was called throughout his life to serve through social justice activism, political work and service within the church. In mid-life, after two decades working in the federal government and raising his family, Neil Henry earned a Master of Pastoral Studies at Saint Paul University (SPU) and worked as a Spiritual Heath Practitioner at Providence Care - Mental Health Services in Kingston. Neil Henry&rsquo;s work and service was characterized by his life-long traits of loving kindness, enthusiasm, non-judgementalness, authenticity, creativity and humour, and his focus on theological and personal reflection, justice, radical welcome and ecumenicalism.&nbsp; &nbsp; Near the end of his life, Neil Henry was still deeply moved by the memory of a fellow SPU student who was offered emergency financial assistance during a medical crisis, allowing them to stay in their program. Inspired by Neil Henry&rsquo;s life of faith and service, his family has created the Here I Am Student Emergency Fund. This endowed fund will help students get through moments of unexpected hardship or financial crisis, continuing Neil Henry&rsquo;s legacy of meeting people where they are at and helping them to thrive. To make that support permanent, we&#39;re raising $35,000 over the next year to fully endow the fund. Once established, it will provide support to students in crisis every year, indefinitely, in Neil Henry Clarke&rsquo;s memory.&nbsp; &mdash; &Agrave; la m&eacute;moire de Neil Henry ClarkeNeil Henry Clarke &eacute;tait un p&egrave;re, un &eacute;poux, un fils, un fr&egrave;re aimant, ainsi qu&rsquo;un membre engag&eacute; des nombreuses communaut&eacute;s qu&rsquo;il a servies. Ils étaient également nourris par son souci de la réflexion théologique et personnelle, de la justice, de l’accueil radical et de l’œcuménisme.Vers la fin de sa vie, Neil Henry était encore profondément touché par le souvenir d’un autre étudiant de l’USP qui, lors d’une crise médicale, avait reçu une aide financière d’urgence lui permettant de poursuivre son programme d’études. Inspirée par la vie de foi et de service de Neil Henry, sa famille a créé le Fonds d’urgence étudiant « Me voici ». Ce fonds de dotation aidera les étudiantes et étudiants à traverser des périodes de difficultés imprévues ou de crise financière, perpétuant ainsi l’héritage de Neil Henry : aller à la rencontre des personnes là où elles se trouvent et les aider à s’épanouir.Afin de rendre ce soutien permanent, nous souhaitons recueillir 35 000 $ au cours de la prochaine année afin de doter entièrement le fonds. Une fois établi, celui-ci apportera chaque année, et pour les années à venir, un soutien aux étudiantes et étudiants confrontés à une situation de crise, perpétuant ainsi la mémoire et l’héritage de Neil Henry Clarke.
