Urban University

Urban University empowers single mothers through skill-building and paid employment, fostering economic mobility and community engagement. Celebrating 17 years of impact, they connect local designers and graduates to promote creativity and growth.

Join us in celebrating 28 years as organization, an evening filled with fun, laughter, and honoring recent program grads! This year, love leads the way. As we celebrate 28 years of urban university, we begin by showing our love in action for single mothers—the heart of our work and the strength of our communities. As the nation marks the 30th anniversary of welfare reform, urban university is intentionally offering a counter-narrative. Single mothers are not the problem. They are our North Star—pillars of love, resilience, leadership, and care who hold families and neighborhoods together every day.We are closing out Black History month with a spades tournament! Never learned how to play? We’ll have a beginner-friendly table!
