Adolescence is the time when people are most at risk of developing an eating disorder. Research has shown that anorexia starts around the age of 12 years old, while bulimia starts around the age of 17. ABOUT ANEB

Anorexia and Bulimia Québec (ANEB) is a non-profit organization that provides immediate, specialized help to people suffering from an eating disorder, as well as to their friends and families, free of charge. In addition to offering specialized services for 35 years now, ANEB maintains a presence in various settings in order to raise awareness about this mental health issue. Through a variety of educational services and the creation of new partnerships, the organization helps to prevent and reduce the consequences of eating disorders.

ABOUT THE EVENT

Sock It to Eating Disorders was originally created in the United Kingdom following the death of a young woman suffering from anorexia. The campaign aims to educate adolescents and those around them about mental illnesses like anorexia and bulimia. It was held for the first time in Québec in 2019.
