<div>Late Sunday evening (August 27) our family experienced the beginning of a nightmare when we received news that Andre got into a car accident after work.</div><div><br /></div><div>Around 10 p.m. at a local McDonald’s drive-thru, Andre was fighting a severe migraine and called his girlfriend to pick him up as he didn’t feel confident of getting home safely. As he was on the phone with her, he accidentally hit the car in front of him. Jael, his girlfriend, made us aware of the news and we all drove to check in on him to make sure everything was okay. Andre appeared as though he was fine, considering the fact that he had a migraine and had just hit a car. Our mom was planning on driving him home as everyone started leaving when last minute she decided to take him to the ER because she was worried about his migraine.</div><div><br /></div><div>Minutes into their drive, Andre kept complaining about how much stronger his migraine was getting and then lost consciousness. After getting rushed through the ER doors, the doctors discovered he had an uncommon condition, hydrocephalus. They stated something was causing fluid buildup in the brain and that he needed an emergency procedure done at a different hospital to relieve the pressure.</div><div><br /></div><div>When he arrived at the other hospital early Monday morning, they performed the procedure and took him through more testing. This is when we received the scary and shocking news that Andre had a brain tumor that was blocking the passageway that allows the cerebral spinal fluid to flow through the brain. The doctors said he desperately needed surgery to remove the tumor and then they could test it to determine if was benign or malignant.</div><div><br /></div><div>Thankfully the surgeon was able to remove the tumor and as much of the cysts as he could. We have since received the news that the tumor turned out to be benign.</div><div><br /></div><div>While a lot of progress has been made in Andre’s recovery, his battle is far from over. Transitioning back to normal life after a traumatic brain surgery is a challenging journey, fraught with physical, emotional, and staggering financial difficulties.</div><div><br /></div><div>In support of our fighter Andre and his family, we have set up this fundraiser. Let's #StandStrongForAndre.</div><div><br /></div><div>------</div><div><br /></div><div>El domingo por la noche (27 de agosto), nuestra familia vivió el comienzo de una pesadilla cuando recibimos la noticia de que Andre tuvo un accidente automovilístico después del trabajo.</div><div><br /></div><div>Cerca de las 10 p.m. en un autoservicio local de McDonald’s, Andre estaba luchando contra una migraña severa y llamó a su novia para que lo recogiera, ya que no se sentía seguro de llegar a casa sin problemas. Mientras hablaba con ella por teléfono, chocó accidentalmente con el auto que tenía de enfrente. Jael, su novia, nos informó de lo que sucedió y todos fuimos a ver cómo estaba para asegurarnos de que todo estuviera bien. Andre parecía estar bien, teniendo en cuenta que tenía una migraña y acababa de chocar con un auto. Nuestra mamá planeaba llevarlo a casa mientras todos comenzaban a retirarse, pero en el último minuto decidió llevarlo al hospital de emergencias porque estaba preocupada por su migraña.</div><div><br /></div><div>Minutos después de comenzar su viaje, Andre no paraba de quejarse de que su migraña se estaba intensificando y luego perdió el conocimiento. Después de ser llevado a través de las puertas de urgencias, los médicos descubrieron que tenía una condición poco común, hidrocefalia. Indicaron que algo estaba causando acumulación de líquido en el cerebro y que necesitaba un procedimiento de emergencia en otro hospital para aliviar la presión.</div><div><br /></div><div>Cuando llegó al otro hospital el lunes por la mañana, realizaron el procedimiento y le hicieron más pruebas. Fue entonces cuando recibimos la noticia aterradora y sorprendente de que Andre tenía un tumor cerebral que estaba bloqueando el paso que permite que el líquido cefalorraquídeo fluya por el cerebro. Los médicos dijeron que necesitaba desesperadamente una cirugía para sacar el tumor y después podrían examinarlo para determinar si era benigno o maligno.</div><div><br /></div><div>Afortunadamente, el cirujano pudo eliminar el tumor y tanto de los quistes como pudo. Desde entonces hemos recibido la noticia de que el tumor resultó ser benigno.</div><div><br /></div><div>Aunque se ha avanzado mucho en la recuperación de Andre, su lucha está lejos de terminar. La transición de vuelta a una vida normal después de una cirugía cerebral traumática es un camino muy difícil, lleno de dificultades físicas, emocionales y financieras impactantes.</div><div><br /></div><div>En apoyo a nuestro luchador Andre y su familia, hemos establecido esta recaudación de fondos. Cada donación, grande o pequeña, ayuda y es profundamente apreciada.
