Comrade Jesus is a 7-week series perfect for Lent but usable anytime of year. It includes Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, and Easter Sunrise worship services along with Good Friday prayer stations and a modern communion liturgy.
Each of the 7 weeks includes a Call to Worship, Poem, Prayer, Hymn Options, Sermon Prompts, and Benediction.
We want this resource to be accessible for all churches. If the cost is outside of your church's budget, please contact us at [email protected] and let us know what you can do. If your church can afford to give more than suggested donation please add an extra donation to help cover the cost for others.
Many pastors face ridicule for being “too political” in the pulpit but the Gospel of Jesus Christ is inherently political. The gospel will always “comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable” as Reinhold Niebuhr said. When we look at the stories we have about Jesus’ life and ministry we find a comrade, a fierce advocate for human rights and social justice. Not an ally on the sidelines but an active participant in the struggle for justice. We see a visionary with a belief in a better, more peaceful, and equal way of life. Our hope is this series will give pastors and church leaders the support needed to preach the gospel of Jesus directly to the issues we face in the United States today. May you know Christ your comrade is with you as you speak his Truth to your people.
