As we celebrate our 12th year of this event, we want to provide you with important details to ensure your experience is enjoyable and safe. The weather is in our favour once again this year.   **Event Schedule:**Race Kit Pickup begins at 5:00pm!!   This is no Friday night or Saturday morning pickup.5:00pm - 6:30pm - Race Kit Pickup (at the Beach Pavilion)6:30 pm - Opening ceremonies6:40 pm - Yoga session with Jaclyn Doyle.  Jaclyn is a psychotherapist and yoga teacher from Sarnia.  6:55 pm - The 1K Kids race will kick off7:10 pm - The 5K and 10k runners will take off **Race Routes:**  - The 1K Race will follow the Terry Fox Loop  - For the 5k, you'll follow the well-marked bike paths leading towards the Bluewater Bridge. It begins at the Terry Fox start line at Canatara Park, heads East towards the Christina St entrance, loops right towards the Animal Farm heading West toward Point Edward. With the help of the Sarnia Police and our volunteers, you will cross Alfred / Sandy St and remain on the path towards the Bluewater Bridge. You will cross Fort St and continue straight on the path towards the hatchery (water station here) and loop the playground side of the path following towards the splash pad and large gazebo. Important note: With the help of our volunteers, you will cross at the Livingston St parking lot (you do NOT continue on the path) and run/walk onto Victoria St. heading East back towards Canatara Park. Turn left on Alfred St. following the marked inside path of pylons.  It is vital you remain on the sidewalk or inside the pylons for safety!  We will try our absolute best to have volunteers and cheerleaders along Victoria St. pointing the way!  Alfred St is the home stretch. You will enter Canatara Park via the Alfred / Sandy St Entrance with the finish line in view! - Those participating in the 10k will tackle this looped course 2x.  **New this year**, you can run through the chute on left-side of the pylons (no more grass field detours and getting in the way of other race finishers!)  - To keep you refreshed along the way, we've strategically placed water stations at the 3KM mark for the 5k participants and at the 3KM, 5KM, and 8KM marks for the 10k participants. <img src="https://res.cloudinary.com/hxn9dbuhd/image/upload/v1727283327/feiyfwzuqqzotiszp6if.jpg" style="width:600px;display:block;vertical-align:top;margin:5px auto;text-align:center;position:relative;max-width:100%;cursor:pointer;padding:0px 1px;user-select:none;box-sizing:inherit" /> **Safety First:**- Please remember that this is an open traffic race, and participants must be vigilant and adhere to all traffic rules.- The Sarnia Police will be on hand to assist with traffic control and ensure your safety.- We ask that walkers stay on the paths at Canatara and the sidewalks of Victoria St. Runners may run on the roads. Please face traffic on Victoria St, remaining very close to the sidewalk when running this part of the course. Remember this is still an open traffic course.  At the Victoria and Albert turn, stay inside the pylons and DO NOT cross the street on Alfred St to head into the park until you are at the entrance of Canatara with the safety of Sarnia Police.   **Parking:**- Parking is available at all three beach lots. To ensure you have ample time for parking and preparations, we kindly ask that you arrive as early as possible. If you park at the Animal Farm, you will have a longer walk to the festivities and you may be delayed leaving as our 10k participants will still be running.  We recommend you enter the park via the Christina/Cathcart entrance. **Race Kit Pickup:**- There will be no Friday night or Saturday morning race-kit pickups. All race kits will be available for pickup at the park starting at around 5:00 pm the day of the race.- We've organized a registration table at the beach pavilion sorted by last name and a section for race day registrations for your convenience. **Exiting the Park:**- After the race, please exit via the Christina St entrance to avoid long waits. If you attempt to leave via Sandy St. you will be waiting for the race to complete.  **Post-Race Refreshments:**- We'll have post-race snacks, including granola bars, bananas, and water to replenish your energy.Thank you to Shoppers North Gate, Kerns Water, Sarnia Produce, and HOME Team Advantage - ReMAX Sarnia Reality for their generous donation.   **Family Fun:**- Parents are welcome to run with their kids in the 1K event, and they do not need to register separately.  Strollers are welcome.   **Friendly Reminder About Pets:**- We kindly request that participants not bring pets to run or walk the event. We love our pets too however due to safety concerns, we ask that pets remain leashed with spectators. This ensures the safety and comfort of all participants. **Music and Headphones:**- You are welcome to enjoy music and use headphones during the race, but please exercise extreme caution, especially when crossing roads and interacting with other participants. **Results and Photos:**WRACE will be timing our event. You can find the results here http://wrace.org/results/lightup/lightup24.htm   (your bib will have a QR code to scan as well):Photos will be taken by Kris Faubert and we will post in an email where to find photos once available.  **Glow Gear:**We will be providing an assortment of glow gear that you are required to wear.  This will replace the traditional headband light.  Races kits will have 3-4 glow sticks provided which you will be required to fit on your wrists and ankles.  We have other assortments should you wish like glasses, hats, etc. - Headlamps are still available for those wanting to wear them.
