We are gathering to explore ideas, mindsets and methods that improve our ability to listen to horses and enhance our relationships. There is an emphasis on how this can help facilitated work in equine-assisted services, however, we believe the learnings to be universal and helpful to anyone striving to connect to their horses in a meaningful way. How we explore these ideas and shape the activities will reflect the group's interest and how you can gain support towards your objectives or challenges. Day 1: Saturday June 9th 9:00 am Welcome and Introductions 10 am - 1 pm: Nurturing Your HerdMindful practices of supporting and collaborating with our equine co-facilitators. 1 pm: Lunch 2 - 4 pm: Exploring Dr. Susan Fay's Sacred SpacesWe will review and practice activities from Sacred Spaces 4 pm - 5:30 pm Herd Meditation Herd Meditations offer peace and quiet, fresh air, and some time to slow things down with a supportive herd of horses. The herd meditation consists of a brief opening circle, followed by a seated guided meditation. Participants are then invited to join the herd at their own pace and at whatever distance feels comfortable. As we regather, short reflections are shared. No horse experience is required. 6:30 pm - Cookout on the Porch with The SouthernerWe'll have a buffet-style dinner from our Friends at the Southerner Day 2: Sunday June 10th 9:00 am Welcome Circle - Check IN 10 am - 1 pm: Widening Our Worldview: Implicit Bias Training:Separate ala-carte registration availableW.O.W. is focused on reducing barriers and disparities in access to and delivery of health care services in support of training requirement in the Public Health Code and Michigan’s BPL and LARA Our WOW trainings are experiential in nature and designed with an empowering mindset to encourage self-reflection, exploration of new ideas and an appreciation for perspectives and ideas beyond our own. We share relevant resources and research while also holding space for conversation, and discovery-fueled growth. 1 pm: Lunch 2 - 4 pm: Healing Culture Through a Trauma Informed LensThe principles of trauma-informed care are a paradigm shift for the care of self and others; professionally and personally. Understanding how to implement these principles can positively influence interactions and the ability to support clients and collaborators. Participants explore how to foster a positive, nurturing work environment, empower an intentional company culture, and enhance collaboration and creativity, while contributing to a healthy, resilient sense of well-being. 4 pm - 5:30 pm Closing Circle
