To make my 50th birthday one that is filled with celebration and meaning, I would like to invite you to join me on November 4, at 5pm, at Sanctuary Farm in Chapel Hill for a Renaissance-themed masquerade fundraiser for The Southeastern Social Care Collective. There will be good food, magical potions (aka adult beverages), a bonfire, live music & dancing! As some of you may already know, the SSCC is a non-profit organization devoted to leveraging local culture and resources to build more inclusive communities. Their program-in-development is a project-based training initiative that will use the framework of a Renaissance Faire to provide hands-on instruction to individuals seeking a career as a direct support provider for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. I can think of no better way to both support this project and celebrate my 50-year milestone than to throw a fabulous party and invite my community to be a part of the magic that happens when you know deep down in your bones you are participating in something that has the potential to transform the lives of many. Please come! (18 and over, costumes are STRONGLY encouraged and appreciated, but not necessary)
