As the rules of gathering have changed so much this year, we have had to adjust to different ways of organizing meaningful events to support our mission. We are excited to announce that with the help of Virtual Run Canada, we will be able to deliver an exciting and interactive experience, while ensuring the safety of our participants. Our run is scheduled to begin in January and run for four consecutive weeks, exact dates to be confirmed. The 2021 Run to Ignite Potential will be promoted, managed, and ran virtually. It is a way for our participants to get out of the house, run (or walk) for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orillia, and be part of an online community to connect with likeminded individuals. Our race will include shipped running related swag, live ranking and race results, and access to the Virtual Run Canada Facebook group. This event allows us to reach beyond our normal borders for support and participation, in-turn increasing exposure for our sponsors. Promotions will be featured across our social media platforms, our website, press releases, and postings on the Virtual Run Canada website. Proceeds from The 2021 Run to Ignite Potential will help us ensure that Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orillia and District can continue to provide a positive mentoring relationship to the over 300 youth who access our programs each year. Never before has there been a more critical need for mentoring. The children and youth we serve are at extreme risk with the stress of COVID-19. Thankfully, our Bigs have been able to stay connected with their Littles and help them cope with the social isolation.
