Truth before reconciliation is an opportunity for all of us to learn from our past, to begin to step into our fuller potential in the present, and to re-imagine a better way forward together. When we deepen our understanding of our true colonial history and the impacts on Indigenous peoples, and allow our hearts to be impacted by this truth, there is potential for us to embrace our responsibility to make change, to stand with Indigenous peoples, support Indigenous Peoples’ rights, create systems that are just and equal, and shift our current relations in ways that benefit the land, the water, and all life forms for generations to come. Workshop OverviewElements of Truth: Before Reconciliation is an Indigenous-led learning experience that nurtures participants’ understanding and awareness of colonization and its ongoing impacts on Indigenous peoples, develops courage and confidence to take action toward reconciliation, increases openness and capacity for collective action, and offers a welcoming space to learn and practice new ways of working, doing and being. Elements of Truth: Before Reconciliation consists of 4 workshops rooted in Indigenous values. Guided by reciprocity, inclusion, curiosity, and humility, our learning journey unfolds in powerful 2.5-hour live facilitated online workshops. Get ready for an informative, interactive, and impactful experience! EARTH: Impacts of Colonization (Oct 9, 2025 )Reconciliation must be rooted in truth; the Elements of Truth journey begins with EARTH. In our first workshop, we illuminate past and ongoing connections between settler colonialism, Indigenous self-determination, and the land. AIR: Expanding Perspectives (Oct 23, 2025)In AIR: Expanding Perspectives, we explore how false narratives and biases influence ourperspectives on and interactions with Indigenous peoples, and reinforce settler colonial systems and the purposes those systems serve. FIRE: Awareness of Power & Privilege (Nov 6, 2025)In FIRE: Awareness of Power & Privilege, we increase our awareness of social positioning and cultivate ways of seeing, being, and doing that support our responsibility to center and support Indigenous voices. WATER: Shared Responsibilities (Nov 20, 2025)In WATER: Shared Responsibilities, we name actions and mindsets that contribute to the marginalization and erasure of Indigenous peoples. Naming helps us build up our capacities to disrupt and shift those behaviours in support of transformative change. CAN I TAKE JUST ONE WORKSHOP? While we strongly encourage attendance in the full series (Earth, Air, Fire, and Water), Elements of Truth is designed to welcome both new and returning participants to any individual workshop. When registering for Elements of Truth, options are available to attend the series (all four) or individual workshops. GROUP PRICING? STUDENT DISCOUNTS? Email enquiries@kinSHIFT.ca What to ExpectOur approach is often described as medicine for relationships. Through engaging activities, we awaken our imagination and expand our thinking. Drawing from Indigenous ways of learning, we embrace experiential and holistic approaches, weaving observation, action, reflection, relationships, and storytelling. We utilize the arts to foster flexible thinking, breaking free from old relationship patterns.
