Her work moves between dance, curation, pedagogy and community organizing, interwoven with place-based knowledges and herbal medicine. Shelley&rsquo;s artistic research has been devoted to &lsquo;landing&rsquo; as a modality for deterritorializing communication with land through somatic and imaginal journeying. Currently, she is collaborating on the development of the &lsquo;Social Body Apothecary&rsquo; a neighborhood garden and social sculpture project.&nbsp; Shelley works independently and collaboratively, in a range of environments including Ponderosa, a rural arts center in Germany where she facilitates the &lsquo;Garden as Studio&rsquo; platform for artistic research, and has been a guest lecturer in the Humboldt University of Berlin. Shelley is in ongoing collaborations with Laura Burns as LARK: Living Archive of Re-membered Knowledges, as well as with Angela Schubot, Jared Gradinger, Anna Nowicka, and Aune Kallinen, among others. Hello Prénom Nom, Thank you for registering to join the Mossbelly session with Angela Schubot and Shelley Etkin on March 29! A note: We are looking forward to this opportunity to exchange with you and five different plant/tree beings that can be found growing in the region of Tkaronto and elsewhere. These days will be devoted to finding practices of co-creation and diving together into the abundant wisdom of the plant world, recognizing the land and the body as fields of knowledge and communications. The practices we offer will develop throughout the week, but feel welcome even if you are only able to join one or some of the days. Each session of the workshop is 2 hours in total, but will include a portion of time dedicated to a specific off-screen practice for connecting with the presence of a particular plant from your place of participation. This may involve going outdoors, working with your view from a window, or the houseplants you cohabitate with. In lieu of being able to be together in the studio, please prepare an area where you can comfortably lie down as some of the offerings will be meditative and prepare a space where movement and physical experimentation is possible. Please have headphones for your device available as well as paper and writing/drawing materials.
