Saturday, September 9, 2023 11:15AM - meet and refreshments11:30AM - Annual General Meeting Location: Fairview Room, United Church, 602 Silica St, Nelson, BC V1L 4N1 While an AGM is normally held in the spring to celebrate the past year’s accomplishments, due to a complete staff overhaul early in 2023, we decided to postpone the AGM until September (this is in accordance with our Bylaws which state the AGM must be held within 15 months of the previous AGM). Our <a href="https://www.friendsofkootenaylake.ca/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/Friends-of-Kootenay-Lake-Stewardship-Society-2022-Annual-Report-1.pdf">2022 Annual Report</a> highlights our accomplishments for 2022. Of particular interest at this meeting is a revision of our Constitution and Bylaws in order to facilitate an application to become a charity (we are currently a non-profit society). Charitable status would give us the ability to issue charitable receipts to donors and would increase opportunities for multi-year and operational funding. Step 1 of this process is to submit revised Constitution and Bylaws which much first be approved at our AGM.  In addition, elections of Officers are held at the AGM. If you’re interested in serving on the Board, please get in touch with us ASAP. We will be sending out an agenda and further materials (including the Constitution Bylaws proposed changes) by September 1, 2023. However, we wanted to send this invite out in time, so that you could get this important date into your calendar and make plans to attend.
