At St. Bonaventure Academy, we are honored to celebrate the rich heritage and enduring spirit of the O-non-dowa-gah (Seneca), also known as the “Great Hill People.” Our deep connection to the Seneca Nation stems from our sister institution, St. Bonaventure University, which resides on their historic homeland. As "Keepers of the Western Door" within the Iroquois Confederacy, the Seneca people embody strength, unity, and wisdom—values that inspire and guide us in our mission. In the Seneca language, "Do:ge:h" means "Together", a fitting name for our monthly giving program that unites our community in shared purpose and mutual support. Just like the Three Sisters—corn, beans, and squash, known as Deohako or “the life supporters”—each of us brings unique strengths that nourish and sustain our collective mission. Through Bona’s Do:ge:h, we recognize the vital role you play in nurturing our students and advancing our mission of faith, education, and service.
