The Malawi team is building a 50-foot concrete bridge in order to connect the rural village of Chilaweni, Malawi to the educational, medical, and socioeconomic resources of the country's second largest city, Blantyre. During their intense rainy seasons, the village of over 25,000 people is cut off from these resources for up to six months at a time. Our goal is to begin bridge construction in May 2025. This semester, we've made steady progress toward completing the design of our bridge. Our students are currently knee-deep in construction drawings, structural calculations, and computer models. Our most pressing goal at this time, however, is funding.
