The Troop &quot;B&quot; Golf Outing benefitting the Tpr. Scott Gonzalez Memorial Scholarship Fund will be held on September 29th, 2025 at Crystal Springs Golf Resort in Vernon, New Jersey. &nbsp;Tpr. Gonzalez of the New Jersey State Police was shot and killed while attempting to apprehend a burglary suspect in Independence Twp. on October 24, 1997. &nbsp;Tpr. Gonzalez spotted the vehicle that was used in a robbery a few hours earlier. &nbsp;After calling for assistance, Tpr. Gonzalez began to pursue the vehicle as it tried to elude him. &nbsp;The driver of the suspect vehicle pulled into a dead end road where Tpr. Gonzalez used his troop car to block his escape. &nbsp;The suspect then abruptly made a U-turn and rammed Tpr. Gonzale&#39;s troop car. &nbsp;Tpr. Gonzalez then exchanged gun fire with the suspect and subsequently lost his life in the gun battle. In honor of Tpr. Gonzalez&#39;s loyalty, dedication and devotion to duty, the Tpr. Scott Gonzalez Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in his memory. &nbsp;The money raised for this fund goes towards scholarships for students selected by the Scholarship Fund who select students, who like Scott, are the underdogs and fight hard to achieve their goals.&nbsp;
