The history of the medieval Order of the Poor Fellow Soldiers of Christ and the Temple of Solomon, commonly known as the Knights Templar, has inspired a great deal of interest, research, and speculation.   The Order was created to protect pilgrims on their way to and from the Holy Land, but evolved into something much greater. No other order at the time could match the Templar’s martial prowess, economic strength, and exalted prestige.
