Join us for an unforgettable afternoon of jazz at CVUUS     -Jeff Nottonson (Piano)    -Ron white (upright bass)    -rob zollman (Drums) This offering is part of our fundraising for our future series-  all proceeds support havurah of addison county Jeff Nottonson began piano lessons at age 6 in Newton, Massachusetts.  He followed this with clarinet lessons and then proceeded to teach himself to play saxophone, flute, trumpet, guitar, bass guitar and vibraphone.  After receiving a Liberal Arts education from Colby College in Waterville, Maine, he attended Berklee College of Music for three semesters, majoring in Song Writing and Jazz Performance. After several years in Real Estate related jobs, he took a full year to hone his song writing skills and write music.  He then began Musique Makers, a Boston-area music agency specializing in live music for private functions.  In the same year, he also began a private teaching practice in Acton and Lexington, Massachusetts, both of which he ran for many years. He left Music in 2017 upon moving to Vermont.  He “came out of retirement” in 2023 to play saxophone, flute and trumpet for a one-night Jazz trio performance at the just-opened 51 Main in Middlebury.   <div>Ron White is an active bassist, educator and conductor. He is currently the Director of the Middlebury Community Music Center’s Chamber Camp as well as the bass instructor and Jazz Camp Faculty. White spent twenty-six years in the classroom directing student orchestras in Dallas, Richardson, College Station and Spring Texas, His orchestras consistently achieved the highest awards at state and local competitions. The A&amp;M Consolidted HS Symphony was invited to perform in Bejing China by the Chinese National Television. White has had a thriving bass studio since 1976. He has hosted many bass events including the Northside Bass Camp and the College Station Bass Bash as well as section coaching at high schools in Houston and Summer String Camps at Sam Houston State and the University of Texas at Arlington. Since moving to Vermont in 2010, White has been heard In the Vermont Jazz Ensemble, Sain and Steel, La Rebellion del Tango, the Handymen and Deja Nous as well as productions at the Town Hall Theater in Middlebury and the Burlington Discover Jazz Festival. Most Thursday Nights, White can be heard with the Jazz Collective at the Middlebury Inn. He has been conducting Burlington’s Amateur Musicians Orchestra since 2018.</div> As a drummer, percussionist and teacher for many years, Rob Zollman plays jazz, blues, rock, classical, Brazilian and other ethnic music. Current and recent bands include EnerJazz Big Band, Left Eye Jump blues band, John Fischer’s Interface (free jazz band in NYC), Gary Schmidt jazz trio, and he frequently plays drums and percussion in musical theater. Rob also facilitates community rhythm circles throughout New England.   Rob has extensive experience as a teacher of drums and percussion, and wrote Whole Music Drumming as a companion book for his teaching practice. He currently teaches at Middlebury Community Music Center, Otter Valley Union high school and middle school, and in his studio in Brandon. Rob has also produced and performed in numerous recordings.
