Geng Jun) In a bleak industrial town in northeast China, Xu Dong, a middle-aged excavator driver, sends his pregnant wife’s beloved dog to be temporarily fostered. The dog ends up in the hands of Ma Qianli, a bankrupt contractor in despair, who kills and eats it out of desperation.The dog’s death sets off an absurd and slow-burning conflict between two men stuck at life’s margins—one burning with rage, the other quietly broken. Xu Dong’s repeated attempts at revenge fail comically, while Ma Qianli’s strange dignity emerges through the cracks.
