This will be a chance to share thoughts and strong feelings awoken by the book, in a supportive and close knit group.  These discussion groups will meet on:May 7, May 21, June 4, June 18, June 25 from 5-7pm PST. Information regarding CEUs:TSID is an Approved RID CMP Sponsor for continuing education activities. This general studies program is offered for 1.0 CEUs at the little/none Content Knowledge Level.   Another 0.4 CEUs will be available for those who complete the assigned reading and do the discussion questions to show completed reading. Description of Event: This series of discussion groups will enable participants to better understand their role in the education of a DHH child, whether in mainstream or in DHH programs.  The learning objectives are as follows: 1. Understand the Lived Experiences of Deaf Educators and Students<ul><li>Identify the unique challenges faced by Deaf teachers working in mainstream public school settings. </li><li>Analyze the systemic barriers Deaf and hard of hearing students face in accessing equitable education. </li><li>Reflect on the impact of hearing-centric educational environments on Deaf identity and community. </li></ul>2. Explore Power Dynamics and Institutional Barriers<ul><li>Examine how administrative decisions and staffing issues can sabotage Deaf-led instruction. </li><li>Discuss the role and influence of speech therapists, principals, and special education departments in shaping Deaf students’ educational experiences. </li><li>Identify instances of audism and ableism in the stories presented and explore their real-world implications. </li></ul>3.
