Chicano Organizing & Research in Education - CORE is a 20-year community serving organization devoted to supporting Chicano/Latino and any immigrant student on their educational trajectory in the U.S. This Tamalada is an opportunity to LEARN HOW to make our cherished family recipe of both savory and sweet tamales, while sharing stories and lore on not just how to MAKE tamales but how to EAT tamales, all while supporting our work and tradition of serving the community. This event will include vegetarian, vegan and gluten free tamales.  Tamales are an ancient tradition of the Americas and are also known as Chuchito (Guatemala), Humitas (The Andes), Hayaca (Venezuela), Pamonha (Brazil) Here's some of what you can expect from CORE in 2025:<ul><li style="box-sizing:inherit">15th Annual Que Llueva Cafe Scholarship - application now open for college-bound undocumented students (national event) Help us award as many $1,000 Scholarships as possible!</li><li style="box-sizing:inherit">4th Annual Immigrant Youth Empowerment Conference at Vassar College Fall 2025 Help us pay for this day filled with inspiring speakers, educational workshops, college tours, morning refreshments, lunch and snacks.</li></ul>This Tamalada is our first fundraiser of the year and we aim to make it FUN and delicious.Join us for this communal event of making tamales that has been practiced for millenia!
