Movement: Metro Vancouver Transit Riders advocates for equitable, accessible, and sustainable public transit in Metro Vancouver. They aim to empower communities through advocacy, education, and engagement to improve transit systems for all users.

<a fr-original-style="" href="https://movementyvr.ca/" rel="noopener noreferrer" style="text-decoration-color: currentcolor; user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">Movement: Metro Vancouver Transit Riders</a>, in partnership with <a fr-original-style="" href="https://www.sfu.ca/renewable-cities.html" rel="noopener noreferrer" style="text-decoration-color: currentcolor; user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">SFU Renewable Cities</a>, is excited to welcome author, planner, engineer and advocate&nbsp;Veronica O. Davis for an evening of critical reflection on how we make decisions about the ways people move through our cities.&nbsp; Davis is the author of <a fr-original-style="" href="https://press.princeton.edu/books/paperback/9781642832099/inclusive-transportation" style="text-decoration-color: currentcolor; user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">Inclusive Transportation: A Manifesto for Repairing Divided Communities</a>. In her lecture, Davis will reflect on what has changed since its publication three years ago and what hasn&rsquo;t.&nbsp; Following the lecture, Davis will join several local outgoing municipal elected officials for a live conversation about the brave choices, difficult compromises, breakthroughs and unfinished work that remains in building more just cities. Bravery in Public Office

Public service calls on you to put your values into practice. This workshop offers practical tools to lead with integrity and working through tensions. Veronica O. Davis will share stories from her own practice, choosing integrity over complacency, what it required, and what it changed. You&rsquo;ll leave with:<ul fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;"><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Tools to identify and uphold the values that guide your work in complex community and city contexts&nbsp;</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">A strategy to engage productively with councillors and senior leaders&nbsp;</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Connections with peers across jurisdictions to share experiences and ideas for addressing obstacles and opportunities&nbsp;</li></ul>This workshop is for local and regional government staff, transportation authority staff and other practitioners whose work shapes transportation in their communities. Bravery in the public sector (workshop)

On October 8, community members will have the chance to learn more about the six Surrey municipal parties running in the upcoming election through a town hall hosted by Movement: Metro Vancouver Transit Riders and the Surrey Citizen.&nbsp; Representatives from the parties will be invited to explain their platform, goals and answer questions about key issues on transit and affordability.
