Navigating climate grief amid living through the climate crisis, whilst politicians favour profits and extraction and blatantly disregard the urgency needed towards a just transition, is a lot for each and every one of us to process. You don't need to hold your emotions alone. We invite you to join us in a collective climate emotions focused event, in which we will debrief through artistic expression. We will give space to each others grief, fears and hopes. As we process our collective pains we will channel our sorrows and horrors into art pieces, be that drawings, paintings, collages, etc., closing with a group artwork any who wishes to join in on may contribute to. Along with this event we have a call to action for any who wish to be involved. On Monday November 23 & Tuesday November 24, city council is having the public hearing regarding the upcoming budget cycle, which as of now funding for all 27 priority climate actions is still not set in stone. We urge all of you to join us in speaking at the public hearing. We are aiming to mobilize 100 people to sign up to speak for each day, 200 speakers total to call for prioritizing funding climate actions. As part of signing up to speak, council gives the option to attach presentations to be alongside speeches. We would love for speakers to be heard not only through their voices but simultaneously through the art of their raw climate emotions. We encourage all who want to join in committing to speak on the 23rd & 24th, to add their artworks in a presentation. As a collective we will ensure council doesn't merely hear us, they will feel the reality of this climate crisis through each of your artworks. We will have a sign up sheet for those who would like to get involved and/or learn more about speaking at the public hearing. Multiple members of CJE who will be present are experienced in mental health first aid and/or non-violent crisis intervention. If at any point the collective emotional process becomes overwhelming our facilitators will be there to support you.
