This accessible guide to common moss species is a good learning companion for new moss enthusiasts, and it's habitat-based approach parallels what we teach in our introduction to bryophytes course. Students can see a previews on the Northern Forest Atlas website here: https://northernforestatlas.org/2020/04/15/moss-digital-atlas/
It doesn't contain all the species we find in the Maritime Provinces, so it's not a substitute for a proper compendium of the flora. For example, it leaves out many of the coastal or coastal plain species. Nevertheless, it is a good guide for forests and some peatland habitats, and will get you to the correct genus in most cases.
