Calling all junior paleontologists! No school today means it's the perfect day to dig into the world of dinosaurs. On this PA day, campers will uncover how fossils form, explore what scientists learn from bones and imprints, and create their very own prehistoric collection. They'll leave with salt dough fossils, a 3D dino skeleton, and a dino mask or arm puppet to bring their favourite creature to life. What campers will do:

Explore the museum. Campers start with a gallery visit, hunting for clues about ancient life and learning how paleontologists study the past.

Enjoy a dinosaur presentation. Our program staff introduce the dinosaurs that once roamed the Earth, how we know what we know about them, and what fossils can tell us.

Touch real fossils. Campers get a hands-on look at fossils up close, feeling the textures, shapes, and details left behind millions of years ago.

Make salt dough fossils. Campers press shells, leaves, and other objects into salt dough to create their own fossil imprints, then take them home to keep.

Build a 3D Q-tip dino skeleton. Using Q-tips and a little engineering know-how, campers assemble a skeleton and learn how bones fit together.

Create a dino mask or arm puppet. Campers choose their favourite dinosaur and customize a mask or arm puppet, from scales and spikes to teeth and claws.

What your child will take away

Salt dough fossils to display at home

A 3D dino skeleton they built themselves

A custom dino mask or arm puppet to wear and play with

A hands-on introduction to paleontology and how fossils help us understand the past

A day of creativity, curiosity, and new friends

Good to know

All materials are provided, and no experience is needed.

Salt dough fossils may need time to dry, so we'll send them home with care instructions.

Crafting can get messy, so please send your child in clothes that can handle it.

Please pack a nut-free lunch and a water bottle.

Space is limited to 12 campers.

Dig in.
