21st Century Thame Limited

21st Century Thame inspires communities to create spaces for nature, promoting biodiversity through gardens and sustainable practices. Their mission is to support nature recovery and engage the public in environmental stewardship.

Always meant to get a hedgehog hole but not got round to it yet? We understand! Bring it to the top of your to-do list the easy way by getting one of our lovely volunteers to make it for you.&nbsp;We have two bookable afternoons which can take 3 households each. We have also got an open invitation so you can book a convenient time with a volunteer.&nbsp;Please note that as holes are made by volunteers at no cost to you, this is done at your own risk. By booking you accept that you 1) 21st Century Thame would not be responsible for any costs relating to damage or other unwanted result or consequence stemming from the hole being placed, though of course we will only send volunteers who have made holes successfully before and they will not go ahead if they feel the site is unsuitable; 2) you confirm the fence is your own property and you have agreed with the adjacent neighbour that they accept a hole (cats, rats etc are not an issue - only small dogs and tortoises that might escape! it is 13 x 13cm approx). &nbsp;If you wish for an insured person to undertake the work, for example if you have an expensive or new fence or complex site, we recommend booking a handyperson to do it.&nbsp;There is no charge - donations towards our nature work are always welcome but not necessary.&nbsp;

Hedgehog hole making  - get hedgehogs into your garden!

Order and collect your free pumpkin plant for the Thame Giant Pumpkin Competition🎃!We are busy sprouting 100 Atlantic Giant Pumpkin seeds and have little pumpkin plants ready for you to plant in your garden or allotment!🌱The plants will be available for collection in two fantastic town centre shops who have very kindly agreed to host the event - Petcare and Bizzie Lizzie Flower Shop. You must pre-book your pumpkin here first though so we match up the right numbers of pumpkins and people! You need to collect between 5th and 10th June (closed on Sundays) 9-5 and show your ticket. One pumpkin per family.&nbsp;Plant somewhere that gets sun for 6 or more hours a day. They sprawl a lot but you can put it in a border and encourage the vines to go where you want them. Give them lots of water to the root, not getting the leaves wet so they don&#39;t go mouldy! You will need to ask a neighbour to water it if you go away! Have a look online for more information about growing a pumpkin.&nbsp;Then, the week before Halloween, we want to see pictures and find out what your pumpkin weighs! The biggest pumpkin in Thame grown from these seedlings will win a special prize! You can then use it as your Halloween pumpkin and we will post fun recipes and food waste prevention tips for you to use it up (and some pumpkin dog treat recipes too!)The pumpkins are free - if you are able to contribute a small donation to our work with hedgehogs, trees and nature recovery, a donation is very welcome but is optional.&nbsp;
