SevenoaksWelcomesRefugees supports refugee families in the Sevenoaks district by providing housing, English language education, and employment assistance, fostering community integration and celebrating cultural diversity through events and outreach.

A joint initiative of Sevenoaks Town Council and Sevenoaks Welcomes Refugees. On World Refugee Day, join us for a guided walk exploring Sevenoaks&rsquo; long history of welcoming refugees. The walk visits eight locations across the town where stories of refuge, resilience and community can still be discovered today &mdash; from a wartime hospital on Hollybush Lane to the grounds of Knole, where 26 Jewish families found safety in the late 1930s. Led by knowledgeable guides, the walk is suitable for adults and older children. Participation is free, with a suggested donation of &pound;10 to support the work of Sevenoaks Welcomes Refugees. The walk will be officially opened at 9:45am on The Vine, where the Deputy Mayor will raise the Sevenoaks Town of Sanctuary flag, followed by brief remarks from Sevenoaks Town Council and Sevenoaks Welcomes Refugees. Please arrive a few minutes early. Join Sevenoaks Welcomes Refugees&#39;s Annual Concert Lottery for a chance to win great prizes donated by wonderful local businesses (see list below with more expected to be added over the coming weeks) while supporting our mission too!&nbsp; Your participation is not only a chance to win fantastic prizes, but also plays a vital role in supporting our mission. Each ticket you purchase directly contributes to our efforts in making a meaningful impact in our community. 🎟️&nbsp; Huge thanks to all the businesses listed below who have generously donated a lottery prize for our charity this year. The draw for prizes (ranging from &pound;15-100) will take place on 29 April 2026 (after the concert event). We will order each prize alphabetically by business name, and we will randomly draw one winning lottery ticket for each prize. We will contact all winners after the draw by COP (29 April 2026). The more tickets you buy, the more chances you will have to win!&nbsp; Thank you for your support. Every contribution, big or small, makes a significant difference. ✨ Please note that you must be 16 years or older to buy a lottery ticket. 🎉 &nbsp;Now in its seventh year, Sevenoaks Welcomes Refugees&#39; annual concert returns &mdash; and this year it&#39;s something truly special. Join us for an unforgettable evening of live music celebrating the cultures and stories of the communities we support. This year&#39;s performers bring extraordinary talent and deeply personal journeys to the stage: 🎤 <a fr-original-style="" href="https://www.instagram.com/rama_alcoutlabi/" rel="noopener noreferrer" style="text-decoration-color: initial; user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">Rama Alcoutlabi</a> &mdash; a Syrian vocalist, researcher, and multi-instrumentalist based in London, specialising in Levantine traditional music and ethnomusicology. Rama is the founder of Music for Peace-Building, bringing to the stage a profound knowledge of the musical traditions of the Levant and a deep belief in the power of music to connect and heal. 🎶 <a fr-original-style="" href="https://www.instagram.com/dzvin.co" rel="noopener noreferrer" style="text-decoration-color: initial; user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">Project DZVIN.CO</a>&nbsp;&mdash; a Ukrainian vocal ensemble of seven professional singers, each from different regions of Ukraine affected by the war. Their repertoire weaves together traditional Ukrainian folk music with a contemporary twist &mdash; deeply rooted, strikingly fresh, and a powerful testament to the resilience of Ukrainian culture. 🪘 <a fr-original-style="" href="https://www.instagram.com/santurista/" rel="noopener noreferrer" style="text-decoration-color: initial; user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">Dr. Peyman Heydarian&nbsp;</a>&mdash; an award-winning santur player and composer born in Shiraz, Iran, trained under renowned music masters and performed on stages across the world. He has developed a uniquely innovative style, blending traditional Persian and multi-ethnic repertoire with contemporary techniques that push the boundaries of the instrument. Together, these three acts offer an evening that is joyful, moving, and above all human &mdash; a reminder of what music can do across borders and cultures.&nbsp; As well as the performances, the evening will include a lottery with prizes generously donated from local businesses, drinks, and plenty of opportunity to connect with the SWR community. Over the years, the concert has raised more than &pound;50,000 for refugee families across the Sevenoaks district. We will be raising funds as a team with a fundraising goal of &pound;2,500.&nbsp; Every donation keeps our support going ❤️ Funds raised at the festival for SWR will help refugees in Sevenoaks find safe housing, learn English, access work, and feel part of our community. Thank you for standing alongside refugees as neighbours, not strangers.
