Step away from everyday life, find your focus, be curious, experiment and create artwork that feels uniquely yours. The day is a mixture of outdoor explorations and indoor creative responses in Sandridge Barton's Vine Room.


You’ll leave with exploratory studies, colour experiments and an original artwork on board, developed through your own creative journey at Sandridge Barton.

'Explore Watercolours' Starts 5th November, 6 week course

10am – 12:30pm

'Explore Watercolours' course with Contemporary Landscape Painter Claire Jo Harmer 🎨

All skill levels and experience welcome. Join for a refresher, to loosen up your approach to painting or to give watercolours a try for the first time!


Week 1 (5/11/26) Explore 12 techniques including using salt and wax to create effects

Week 2 (12/11/26) Create washes and glazes bringing atmosphere and depth

Week 3 (19/11/26) Define light and shadow to add dynamic form and impact

Week 4 (26/11/26) Experiment with textures and patterns for detail and intrigue

Week 5 (3/12/26) Capture natural forms in watercolours using these new skills

Week 6 (10/12/26) Make original watercolour greetings cards or a winter scene


Over the weeks you will build your skills and confidence at this fun and friendly course hosted by contemporary landscape painter, Claire Jo Harmer.

OCTOBER: EXPERIMENTAL ACRYLICS

Fun and friendly sessions one Tuesday evening a month at A Kick up The Arts, 6 Bolton Street, Brixham, TQ5 9DE


Experimental Acrylics is designed to encourage you to get curious and explore possibilities. Build your mark making, layering and colour mixing skills through intuitive and fun experiments. We use squeegees, stencils and sponges as well as a variety of brushes and other tools. Every month you are given prompts, guides and resources to encourage and inspire you. Contemporary landscape painter, Claire Jo Harmer, demonstrates techniques and gives support (if desired) throughout the sessions. 


All art supplies, surfaces and tools are provided. Refreshments are complimentary. 


Sessions are one Tuesday evening a month from 7pm until 9:30pm and £35 per session.

These painting workshops are guided and suitable for those new to painting or would like a refresher.
