On 24th July, 1926, the first official greyhound race in the UK took place at Belle Vue dog track in Manchester. After a century of suffering, and an immeasurable number of deaths, greyhounds deserve real freedom now.&nbsp;They deserve safe homes, comfy sofas, and loving families. March with Animal Aid, Greyhound Protection UK, CAGED Nationwide, and Shut Down Campaigns this July as we challenge an industry that confines these dogs to concrete kennels, puts them in mechanical starting traps, forces them to run around dangerous tracks, and abandons them when they no longer make the grade. The UK industry&#39;s own statistics confirm that in 2024*:<ul fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;"><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">123 greyhounds were killed on UK tracks directly as a result of racing incidents,</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">A further 223 were killed away from the track for reasons other than terminal illness or natural causes,</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Greyhounds suffered 3,809 injuries,</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">3,333 greyhounds forced to race were given up to already overflowing charity rehoming centres, and</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">1,319 greyhounds who will never race again were returned to the same kennels they spent most of their lives, without a new home.</li></ul>Now, with fewer than 20 dog tracks left in the UK we have the chance to end this cruelty once and for all.&nbsp;Join us on 25th July in London as we march to end this century of suffering.&nbsp; Together, we can guarantee real freedom for our greyhound friends.
